Weekly Round Up – 10th September 2018

This was a busy weekend for the club, being the Great North Run weekend.
Starting first at Parkrun on Saturday morning, those who hadn’t made the trip to Newcastle were out in force. There was a healthy club showing at Kingsbury Water parkrun with Andrew Pickard leading the way in 22.53, just beating Mike Shelton and Trev who finished in the same time. Next to finish was Robert Hirst in 24.22, followed by Darren O’Leary in 25.01, Jackie Tierney in 28.50, Lisa Field in 29.38, Ian Grigg in 30.37, Vickie Gilks in 35.47, Wendy Bowyer in 35.50 and Christine Norris in 37.04.Caroline Evans completed Sutton Park parkrun in 36.27 and Marcus Fairburn clocked 26.41 at Conkers.
The main event of the weekend was of course the Great North Run, the Newcastle half marathon on Sunday. The club was well represented with Malcolm Bembridge first home in 1:41.32, followed by Phil Neale in 1:56.01 just beating George Hope who finished in 1:56.16. Joanne Harvey was next in 2:05.14, followed by Lisa Jones-Bignell and Simon O’Reilly who both finished in 2:09. Next was Sandra Ingram in 2:14.26, Carolyne Browne in 2:16.29, Sophie Galloway in 2:17.24 and Emma Livingstone in 2:21.50.
Closer to home, the Lichfield 10k also took place on Sunday with Ashley Baldwin finishing fifth overall in 36.07. Val Lawson also took part, finishing in 57.50.
For the more adventurous, Lee Rickard completed the Derby Sprint Triathlon, finishing in 29th place in 1:04.07. However the most impressive achievement of the weekend.
