Weekly Round Up – 22nd April 2019

There was a good turnout at Kingsbury waterpark on Saturday morning for an Easter themed parkrun with a good Peeler turnout among the 600 keen runners. Several keen Peelers ran from Fazeley to Kingsbury, ran parkrun and then ran home, making it a 15 mile effort.

Mark Webster was first home for the club in a quick 20.14 mins. He was followed by Phil Neale in 22.00 mins and Garth Cox who set a new personal best of 22.25 mins. Ashley Goodman was next home in 23.11 mins followed by Darren O’Leary (24.36), Marcus Fairburn (26.17), Darren Truman (27.01), Alison Upton (28.29), Sophie Galloway (28.30) and Michael Stevenson (28.49). Stuart Hatton crossed the line in 31.00 mins, followed by Jo Insley who ran a steady 33.33 mins, ahead of her London Marathon outing next weekend. Christine Norris (38.20) narrowly pipped Alison Dolphin to the line (38.24) and Mark Boffey had a leisurely outing supporting a friend’s first park run in 50.17 mins.

Elsewhere Emma Pick finished as first lady at Conkers parkrun in an impressive 19.05 mins and in 18th place overall. Martin Hollamby completed the Fire Service College parkrun in Moreton in the Marsh in second place overall in 18.54 mins and Simon Gordon completed the Brighouse event in 23.12 mins.

There were several races over the weekend, with the unseasonal heat making racing a challenge. Mike Shelton completed the Bournemouth Quarter Marathon (10.5k) in 50.39 mins, Dave Fern completed the Easter Bunny 10k at Chasewater in 51.40 mins and Garth Cox finished the Massey Ferguson Tractor 10k at Stoneleigh Agricultural Centre in a time of 49.54 mins.
