Peel Road Runners headed for the hills last weekend with several members taking on the mountainous challenge of the Snowdonia Marathon in North Wales.
For Michael Shelton, this was the last of his ‘four in four’ challenge (four marathons in 4 weeks for the charity MIND) and was by far the hardest of them all. Accompanied by Trevor the Bear for the last time, Michael broke through all the mental and physical barriers and managed to complete the scenic 26.2mile route in a time of 4:43:43hrs.
Also taking on the Snowdonia mountains were Carolyne Browne who training efforts was rewarded with a finish time of 4:56:18hrs, Helen Manton who crossed the finish line in a time of 5:36:15hrs and Martin Candy with a time of 5:44:40hrs.
Bob Donovan was back at Caldecotte Lakes, Milton Keynes participating in day 3 of the Three Lakes Marathon Challenge. Bob’s finishing time was 5:07:48hrs finishing in 16th place on the day.
Running at the Worksop Half Marathon were Peel Road Runners Joanne Harvey & Helen Chyla who, whilst finding the race tougher than expected, both finished the day smiling and recorded times of 2:04:06hrs & 2:05:17hrs respectively.
Also running the 13.2-mile half marathon distance but this time down in Rugby were Malcolm Bembridge and Shaun Coyle. On a surprisingly hilly route the pair had a good run out together with Malcom crossing the finish line in a time of 1:43:00hrs and Shaun Coyle recording a new H/M PB with a time of 1:44:06hrs.
The Parkrun PB’s continued to tumble with several runners posting new best times. Running at Kingsbury Water Park it was Simon Smith who lead the Peelers home finishing in 15th place overall with a time of 20:09mins. Darren O’Leary posted a new 5k PB by beating last weeks’ time by 5 secs to finish with 20:36mins. Next to finish and also posting a new PB time was Shaun Coyle with 21:37mins, just ahead of Phil Neale who also notched up his second PB in as many weeks with a time of 22:45mins, 13secs quicker than last week.
Allan Willliams completed the 5k route in 24:58mins ahead of George Hope 25:35mins and Stuart Hatton 25:49mins.
Annie Wilson continued her recent good running form and led the Peel Road Runners ladies section home with a new PB time of 26:14mins, her third PB in the last 4 outings at Kingsbury. The PB’s just kept coming as Emma Livingstone took 40 secs of her previous best finishing with 27:09mins.
