Weekly Round Up – 30th September 2019

Unfortunately Saturday’s Kingsbury Water parkrun was a casualty of the recent wet weather with the event cancelled due to flooding.

Not to be deterred a number of hardy Peelers ventured elsewhere for their Saturday morning exercise. Michael Stevenson finished the Brueton Park Solihull event in 29.57 mins. Claire Guffick and Lee Guiffick completed the Sutton Park event in 33.34 and 34.36 mins respectively. Several Peelers went to Conkers with Christine Norris running 38.02 mins, followed by Alison Dolphin in 38.13 mins and Roger Lloyd in 48.44 mins. At Chasewater Garth Cox finished in 25.22 mins on his return from injury followed by Neal Dempsey and Helen Dempsey (both 29.01 mins). Further afield Andrew Pickard ran the Sheffield Concord event in 21.20 mins, Jackie Tierney completed the Newbury parkrun in 29.14 mins, and Sarah French finished the Penrhyn event in North Wales in 33.04 mins.

Donna Lancaster braved Sunday’s wet weather to complete the Tissington Trail half marathon in the Peak District in a time of 1:54.00 hrs and Phil Neale finished the Blenheim half marathon in a strong 1:41.27 hrs. Jo Insley and Sophie Galloway both tackled the Equinox 24 hour event, both completing a total of 30k by running three 10k events during the 24 hour period. Claire Guffick completed the Brewood Woggle 10k in a time of 1:06.56 hrs.

Friday evening saw the annual awards ceremony for the Burton and District Summer League, a series of eight races that the club participates in along with several other Midlands running clubs. The club was represented in the final awards with Ash Baldwin winning the Senior Male award and Emma Pick winning the Under 25 Female award as the most consistent runners in their categories across the eight events.

Peel Road runners meet every Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm at the snowdome. New members are always welcome.
