Weekly Round up – 15th January 2018

Peel Road Runners would like to congratulate Ashley Baldwin who posted a new club record in his age category for the 10-mile distance race at the weekend. Ashely was running in the Sneyd Pudding Run, a local race which was originally set for December but was postponed due to the weather conditions on the day, and Ashley certainly reaped the benefits from the extra preparation time.

Ashley finished in 3rd place overall around the two-lap 10 mile course with a blistering time of 57:48mins, breaking Carl Bakers previous record which had stood since 2001 and earning himself the much-deserved plaudits from his fellow club members both past and present.

Also running at Sneyd was Garth Cox who showed he is also well on the way back from his recent injury setbacks finishing with a time of 1:26:46hrs.

Bob Donovan travelled down to Gloucester last weekend to tick off yet another marathon and edge closer to his goal of completing 100 Marathons. Bob finished his latest 26.2 mile run in 238th position with a time of 5:14:14hrs.

Peel Road Runners were hoping to continue their recent excellent Cross Country form at race #3 in the Derby Runners XC Winter league last weekend. Early indications are there were some tremendous individual performances once again however final race results will be posted next week.

Running solo for the Peelers at the Conkers Parkrun was Ashley Perks who’s well on the way back to his form of 2017 with a time of 24:31mins.

Over at Kingsbury Water Parkrun it was Shaun Coyle who cross the finish as the first Peeler and rekindling his pre-Christmas form with a time of 22:34mins ahead of Stuart Hatton who ran a 24:08mins for his 5k back on the one lap winter route.

Dave Fern was next to finish with 24:55mins followed by Allan Williams 25:19mins, George Hope (who had a close encounter with a gaggle of geese crossing the wooden footbridge 1.5km from the finish!) 26:37mins, Darren Cotton with 26:54mins and Michael Stevenson with 29:07mins.

Christine Keenan was the only female Peel Road Runner running at Kingsbury and she finished with a time of 32:28mins.
