Weekly Round Up – 28th October 2019

Saturday morning bought a spooky feel to Kingsbury Water park for the Halloween special parkrun. Several intrepid Peelers braved the heavy rain, mud and flooded paths to enjoy the occasion.

First home for the club was Phil Neale in a time of 23.26 mins. Not far behind was Simon Gordon in 23.47 mins followed by Neal Dempsey (24.59), Tim Mudd (25.28),  Sophie Galloway (27.22), Helen Dempsey (28.55), Jackie Tierney (32.07), Alison Upton (34.28) and Wendy Bowyer (35.21).

Further afield Chris Bennett (23.01) and Sarah French (33.41) completed the Conkers event. Rob Mace was third overall at the Bedgebury Pinetum event in Kent in a fast 20.31 mins. Andrew Pickard finished in 23.01 mins at the Sheffield Castle parkrun and Marie Llewellyn stopped the clock at 25.15 at the Gadebridge parkrun. Finally Michael Stevenson cantered home in 29.04 mins at the Warwick Racecourse parkrun.

Congratulations go to Mark Webster who participated in the extremely challenging Snowdonia Marathon, his first ever marathon. He finished in a strong 3:31.26 hrs, a great time given the terrain and indeed a time that many would be delighted with on a flat course!
Across the Irish Sea , Mike Shelton completed the Dublin Marathon in a time of 4:05.07 hrs.

The club is planning to hold a Bridge to 10k course during the Autumn. The course is aimed at runners who are already able to run 5k and will provide coaching to allow them to progress to running 10k. The course is free of charge and anyone interested is asked to contact the club through our Peel Road Runners Beginners Facebook page. We are also planning to run a couch to 5k course for beginners within the next few months.

Peel Road runners meet every Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm at the Snowdome. New members are always welcome.
