Weekly round up – 7th November 2017

Peel Road Runners kicked off the 2017/18 Cross Country Winter League is style last weekend with some tremendous individual performances.

With a change of league from last year the Peel Road Runners now compete in the Derby Runner League (Derby / Staffs Division) alongside teams from Lichfield, South Derby, Mickleover, MVH & Smalley. The change also brings with it the opportunity for both the Men’s & Women’s teams to compete at the same venue on the same day.

Race 1 was held at the Foremark Reservoir in Derbyshire and was a two-lap course covering approximately 5.5miles of a mix of trail / off road and bridle paths. Conditions were ideal for XC running and the well represented Peel Road Runners teams certainly made the best of the conditions.

Peel Road Runners posted 1st & 3rd places in both the men’s & women’s events. Robbie Baden leading the men home and Emma Pick crossing the finish line first for the women’s event.

*At the time of going to press the individual results were not available.

The Peel men’s team scored 158pts and lie in 2nd place in the league table behind Lichfield RC and the Peel women’s team also lie in 2nd place behind Lichfield RC having scored 151pts. The combined team are 2nd in the league table just 71pts behind table topping Lichfield RC and 100pts ahead of 3rd place Mickleover.

The club would like to thank the supporters and especially those that volunteered to help Marshall the event without whom races like these may not be possible.
